Trendoo.ai is an AI-powered personalized content integration and trend-tracking platform that helps users extract valuable insights from massive information streams.




Role and Team
What is my role in my golden triangle team :)
A tightly knit golden triangle team, where AI design and engineering co-create in real time for rapid iteration and deep product impact. As the sole Lead AI Product Designer, I worked in close collaboration with founding engineers to develop product strategy, define MVP features, build prototypes, conduct user research, tackle design challenges, identify pivot opportunities, and drive the product toward a successful launch—step by step.

What problems do we try to solve?
Through careful observation and user research, we identified a common pain point: users often feel overwhelmed and frustrated when extracting meaningful insights from massive volumes of information. My screening research and data collection confirm this is a widespread and persistent issue, highlighting a critical improvement opportunity.

User research: Competitive analysis
How does an existing product try to solve the similar problems?
By analyzing four existing competitive products to understand their strengths and weaknesses, I identified key opportunities for Trendoo to learn from competitor successes and avoid common pitfalls. This analysis also helped us clarify Trendoo’s unique goals and positioning in comparison to other products.

Design

A. Thread —— Personalized recommendation system
Thread page is a topic-focused content hub that brings together everything tailored to a user's specific interests, including regularly updated newsletter posts, data agent resources, podcasts, topic introductions, and AI chat history. The Thread Card provides a glanceable summary view, allowing users to quickly browse and access the most relevant content.




B. AI-Generated Personalized Newsletter Posts
A newsletter post is a personalized content page that includes curated updates, such as articles, videos, podcasts, or insights, based on the user's specific topics and interests. The newsletter card is a clickable preview component that leads to the full newsletter post page for in-depth exploration.



C. It could be diverse tailored threads
With Trendoo AI, users can create and follow any topic of interest, ranging from domain-specific news like AI tools, semiconductor updates, and stablecoin insights to deeper research and insights such as city event recommendations, tax strategies, and developments in retrieval-augmented generation.


Design

A. Regular update mechanism
When users create a tailored topic thread, they receive not just one AI-generated newsletter, but an ongoing stream of regularly updated newsletters. These updates deliver the latest knowledge, trending topics, and real-time news—enabling users to stay on top of key trends effortlessly, save significant time on daily content filtering, and greatly improve their information efficiency.

B. Trending Topic Recommendation System
In addition to personalized user-created Threads, Trendoo features an AI-powered tailored trending recommendation system that significantly boosts time efficiency. At the top of the Threads and Feeds sections, users are instantly shown the most relevant trending Threads and Newsletters—dynamically curated based on their existing interests. By proactively surfacing timely, high-value content, Trendoo helps users skip the search and stay ahead, saving time with every interaction.

But, There are always challenges
Trendoo. AI saw limited user adoption after the first MVP launch.
We launched our first MVP on Product Hunt and Google Play but faced challenges in user acquisition due to technical and financial constraints. This experience highlighted areas for improvement and necessitated a reevaluation of our strategy moving forward.

How can we do better
Usability testing and Interviews to collect users' feedback
I interviewed 20 users to deeply understand their frustrated, preferences, and suggestions for the MVP product.

As startup founders ourselves, we began by targeting a niche audience we deeply understand — other startup founders — and conducted interviews with 15 target users to uncover their key needs, questions, and interaction preferences.

As the sole design lead, I wore multiple hats—not just as a designer, but also as a product manager, business partner, and co-founder. The leadership experience I gained from this project is truly invaluable.

I took full ownership, drove both design and business decisions in the right direction, and delivered significant impact. Strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration were the two most important lessons I learned throughout this journey.
